Added n8n + Workflows

I’ve officially entered the future of ai productivity, and it starts with a simple button.

Thanks to direct HTTP requests wired into my n8n server, I can now use this compact little button to trigger fully customized automations on demand. Imagine the power of IFTTT or Zapier, but supercharged with total flexibility, no subscription lock-in, and full control. Now layer in Kimi AI and Moonshot to give it brains, and suddenly we’re talking about real-time, AI-enabled workflows running through clean API calls for fractions of pennies on the dollar.

I picked up the 3-button + Hub kit, and things escalated quickly. The moment it arrived, I started building out integrations. What I wanted, more than anything, was a physical way to toggle Conversation Mode on and off without unlocking my phone or tapping through menus. Just one press. Whether clipped to a keychain, snapped to a belt loop, or finally making use of that tiny jeans pocket above the front one that no one knows what to do with, the button would give me instant, seamless access.

Here's the magic: while ChatGPT still hasn’t figured out true fluidity in Conversation Mode, I found a workaround. By swapping in Perplexity instead of Google Voice using the same integration path, I now get something even better. Perplexity starts actively listening the moment I trigger it, then shifts into push-to-talk so I can ask my question naturally, with my phone still tucked away and a single earbud in my ear. It feels like whispering commands into the air and having your own private AI actually respond, without the awkward setup, interrupted conversations due to noise, conversation mode feature timing out, or battery drain of a full-blown assistant app.

This is not just a novelty. This is the beginning of a low-cost, high-impact control interface for personal AI. A button that listens. A voice that answers. Logic that flows. And it’s all mine to customize.

I am waiting for my Kickstarter Loomos AI Smart glasses to arrive and I plan to program a feature to control the camera and other aspects. More to come!

Lights, Volume and opinion/summary

I recently got myself the hub, twister button and simple flic2 button. I'm just starting but took a deep dive straight into all the SDK and just now I finally finished implementing pretty much all I ever wanted from buttons and it's just the beginning for me. I'm so excited about the possibilities!!

I have a very long story on my obssesion for smart stuff but I'll cut it short and say this -

My simple button - Double tap turns off my house lights between 10pm to 3am (I pull the right time through the internet), so outside those hours I can assign other activities to the button

My twister button - regular twist controls the volume of my Laptop, press and twist controls my bedroom light and hold button resets the laptop volume. For the volume control I check if my laptop is available, otherwise I can assign other tasks for the button

This wasn't as easy as it SHOULD have been unfortunately... this is really highly dev skills required but it's doable. I just wish it was much easier to achieve without the amount of code work and integrations I made

My thought was that you turned the selector to a position and that then identified which virtual button you were using. All actions (push, double push, push/twist, hold, etc...) would continue to apply to the virtual button that you'd selected until you changed the selector to a different virtual button. In essence, you would have 12 buttons in one that didn't always reset to the main button after every use. So a little different from how you describe it. And a little different from how it works now where the selection is only temporary. Granted, if you wanted to know which selector was active you might burn battery life with a light on. Maybe you add a motion sensor so the selected button light comes on when you're in front of it. But again, more battery. Just thinking out loud.

Hi!

Yes, there is!

You can use Flic Universal to configure the Flic button to act as a Bluetooth keyboard and program different key combinations to be triggered when you press it.

You can read more here:
https://flic.io/flic-universal

For example, I use Flic to disable or enable blocking. I have tested and confirmed this functionality using the 1st Gen Flic Hub as well as the Flic Mac software.

Ok, so why have I done this? Instead of going to the web dashboard and doing tasks manually, I can do it with a simple click. I usually block most social media and ad trackers using Pi-hole but sometimes it is necessary to view sites like Facebook or Instagram. I saw this article where some guy hacked this functionality together but those of us with Flic can do this much more elegantly.

The first thing to do is get your API token from Pi-hole found under Settings. Then set up an Internet Request GET action in the Flic app and for the URL, enter something like the following:

http://YourPiHoleIPAddress/admin/api.php?YourCommand&auth=YourAPItokenHere

You could probably use any Pi-hole command but "enable" and "disable" are probably the most useful. In addition, you can also set the amount of time you want it to remain enabled or disabled.

Here is how to disable Pi-hole blocking for 5 minutes or 300 seconds:

http://YourPiHoleIPAddress/admin/api.php?disable=300&auth=YourAPItokenHere

Here is how to enable Pi-hole indefinitely:

http://YourPiHoleIPAddress/admin/api.php?enable&auth=YourAPItokenHere

I hope this little tutorial helps you get a bit more functionality from your Flic buttons.
