I'm having the same problem running version 3.0.9-h2.
Sometimes the message reads something else, but it's hard to debug when the error handling has a timeout replacing anything meaningful with "Could not connect" within 5 seconds.

@anton Does that mean that I can't use it has a HID device on my Mac until the update has been released?
