Unable to Configure Keyboard Shortcut (Ctrl/Alt/Shift + Key) in Flic 2 App
-
Hello Flic Team,
I am reaching out to clarify a limitation we are encountering while evaluating the Flic 2 Smart Button for a medical web application.
Use case
We are building a browser-based medical imaging workflow (e.g., colonoscopy image capture).
The requirement is to use a single physical button to trigger image capture by sending a keyboard shortcut (for example: Ctrl+M, Alt+M, or Shift + key), which the web application listens for via standard browser keydown events. What we expected
Based on available documentation and videos (including those referencing Universal HID mode), we expected the Flic 2 button to:Act as a Bluetooth HID keyboard
Allow configuration of keyboard shortcuts (including modifier combinations such as Ctrl / Alt / Shift)
Work without additional hubs or desktop software
What we are observing
In the current Flic mobile application (tested on Android; similar reports from iOS):We do not see any option to configure keyboard shortcuts or modifier combinations
The available “Advanced” actions are limited to services such as Alexa, IFTTT, Internet Request, System Control, etc.
There is no visible way to assign Ctrl+Key, Alt+Key, or Shift+Key combinations
Because of this, the Flic 2 button cannot currently trigger OS-level keyboard events that a desktop browser can detect.
Questions for clarification
Does Flic 2 officially support sending keyboard shortcut combinations (Ctrl/Alt/Shift + key) as a true Bluetooth HID keyboard?
If yes:
Which platform (Android / iOS) exposes this configuration?
Are there specific steps, firmware versions, or modes required?
If no:
Is this a known limitation of Flic 2?
Is this capability planned for a future release?
We want to ensure we are not missing a supported configuration path before deciding whether alternative HID hardware is required for this workflow.
Thank you for your time and guidance. We appreciate any clarification you can provide.
Best regards,
