Cannot pair flic 1 to a Samsung phone
-
Hi community,
I just got a new phone and I'd appreciate help with pairing my flic buttons to it.
I'm trying to pair a button and while the pairing process starts successfully, during the "connecting" phase my phone pops up a bluetooth alert asking if I'd like to approve the button. At that point the flic app stops the pairing process, telling me that "I have left the app and should try again".
The problem is that my phone ALWAYS pops up the bluetooth alert, even after I already approved the button connecting. So every time I'm trying to pair the button I get the same phone popup and the flic app stops the pairing because I "left" the app...
I'm running the latest flic app from the Play store, the phone is a Samsung S20 and I'm trying to connect a flic 1 button (managed to pair it to a different phone btw is hardware is fine).
Any advice here? I cannot seem to find a way to disable the popup on the phone...
Thanks in advance!

@roeegr I think we managed to solve this now. We'll release this fix in the next app update. Can't tell exactly when that will be, but probably pretty soon due to the many users affected.

Thank you for the prompt reply Emil! Really appreciate it!
Looking forward for the next release then. Any rough estimations for when it'll be available? This actually affects one of my clients so I'd like to provide some ETA.
Thanks again!

Hi. Yeah we heard about this recently on new Samsung phones.
It appears that they have added this feature themselves as additional security (this is normally not part of stock Android). This causes the flic app to be "paused" while they show their popup.
Unfortunately we stop the pairing process when the app gets "paused" since that usually means the user left the app.
We'll take a look at this and fix it in the next release.
