You can now control the IR using our Hub SDK. See the documentation at https://hubsdk.flic.io/static/documentation/#30_ir_module. You can set up a tcp server using the hub sdk and when some command is received, trigger the IR.

We have at the moment no plans to abandon Flic Hub LR after the introduction of the Flic hub mini, since the Hub LR has more features.

@mark-burton Yep we are working all the time to improve the software, including adding support for Sonos playlists. Lately adding HomeKit support has taken up quite much of our time. Right now things are going slower duing the summer holidays though, but you can be sure we will release a range of new features this autumn.

@designsymbiosis Look at the light color while pressing the button. Is it red and flashing?

I have figured it out. When I started flicd through /etc/rc.local it was running as root with no environmental variables, and the data of the buttons was stored in the root directory. When I ran the exact same command as user pi, the environmental variables were set, PATH, USER etc. The fix was simple: use full path names for the data base file.
My apologies for wasting your time when the error was mine.

@willow-gnat-kabob The Sonos playlist feature is not present in the latest mobile app, i.e. in their new redesigned app. But on their public todo-list there is a task listed that they will add this back. In the meantime you can use the Windows or Mac app to create a Sonos playlist.

There is one possibility that the power adapter has become bad. Could you try another one, perhaps one that delivers at least 2 A?

@Emil Hey Emil, i‘d like to push this topic back on the table. There would be so many possibilities if all the functions triggered by a Button could also be launched via HomeKit. Especially functions of the ir blaster. I’d really appreciate if you guys implement this feature. Thank you all.

I made some progress on this issue. I deleted the single press action of the flic button from the HomeKit home app. Then I single pressed the flic button. The "non-existent" HomeKit single press action was triggered and the device was toggled from off to on.

This confirmed my suspicion that the action was running twice. It appears that the HomeKit hub was running both the deleted action and the configured action.

I had this requirement and solved it by linking Zapier (Free account) (5 Zap limit I believe so if you need more perhaps not the right email option) and then using a service called Firetext (UK based) to deliver the text messages.

And yes it works 👍 .

You will need to pay for credits (the first 25 are free) £20 for 500 so depending on what you want this combination, as a way of using a flic button as an alert service, it works well.

However!! Zapier is not instant so if anyone knows of a service that will email instantly I would be interested (I will keep looking).

The reason I mention the delay is for those who are looking for a Panic Button Solution as the above combination can take between 30 seconds and a few (less than 5) minutes to deliver the text, the delay is with the Zapier free account, unfortunately. 😞

But if you need an alert as an email/text this workaround/combination is by far the simplest/cheapest I have found and it works :).

@Emil I found the error, and I'm not sure if I will admit it... But I had an old RPI running that I tested some flic buttons on some years ago (first release). Maybe I should clean up what I have running on my network...

It works!

The problem was

old firmware (could not update myself) with new firmware the 'sdk-switch' in the flic-app was turned off, by default
-> red dot in the sdk-login-screen turning sdk-switch to on
-> green dot in the sdk-login-screen
-> login works!

Maybe, just maybe there is a way if you use Homebridge, there is a plugin for HomeBridge, install this and then run it as a child bridge, it will show up in Homeassistant, the code for Flic in Home assistant can then be found in the Flic Homebridge plugin, click on the Child bridge icon in the plugin to retrieve the code.

@buckyswider @Emil Agree, would be nice if there was a for the hubs to synchronize the configurations across a single account.

@editdave yeah we are discussing internally a new mode for the twist that would make this possible. It needs to be a "free" movement so not tied to 0-100% as each mode is currently.

@Emil what you say now is the same what I understood from the previous explanation above of how Flic + Android app are supposed to work, but it seems it doesn't.

For example right now I tried to do it again, after pressing for 10 seconds it indeed "found a new flic" but then: "Couldn't connect to the Flic, Make sure you don't have to many Flics on your account and the Flic is within reach". Well I do have at most 4 physical flics, 0 in the account of the phone I am trying. Is that too muany? Anf the phone is 10 cm from the Flic, and BTW it found it... So what's the problem?

BTW it is very annoying to write in these small textboxes in the forum, when half of them is hidden below the bottom of the window (Mac, Google Chrome)...

If you feel like you want to return the product then please contact support@shortcutlabs.com and they will help you out. Regarding HID functionally on Android we really wanted to add support for that, but unfortunately we could not do that since Android has some stability issues with HID devices.

Same problem here. I have a Flic I want to use once per day, but every time I go to use it it is disconnected. Pretty useless...
