Flic 2 button goes into standby mode

I have my flic 2 buttons connected to the flic hub. One button keeps going to standby mode (as viewed from the app) after some time of not being used. The result is that it does nothing when pressed the first couple of times - it just flashes red. On the third try or so it will connect and toggle the light. My other 2 flics work fine so far. The buttons are a little over 1 month old so I do not suspect the battery is the issue.
It seems to be the same problem as reported in the linked thread.
